University of Hertfordshire Finalists in Research & Innovation Award for Alert

University of Hertfordshire named finalist in 2013 Research & Innovation Award for Alert Detector

The University of Hertfordshire has been named a finalist in the annual online competition run by Edmund Optics for the innovative use of optics for their work on Alert - the world’s first real-time detector of airborne asbestos.

The competition recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate optics programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at non-profit colleges and universities.

The University of Hertfordshire’s work on Alert has placed them in the finals alongside other prestigious universities from around the world including: the USA’s UCLA and Pensylvania State Universities; Singapore’s Nangyang Technological University ; China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University and fellow countrymen at Cambridge University, England.

The University of Hertfordshire’s outstanding work on the development of Alert’s potential life-saving technology deserves global recognition and acclaim and all the members of the Alert Project Consortium congratulate them on reaching the finals of this competition and many more in the future.
